Got my tix to see Nick Cave at the 930.
Should be a good show, I've seen him once before and it was a really great show. It was a bigger theater show at the Orpheum in Boston for the No More Shall We Part tour. I'm thinking this tour is gonna be a lot different. Dig!!! Lazerus Dig!!! has a much different tone than that one. looking forward to it.

Apparently I have to run up screaming "DAAAADDYYYY" because I look like his long-lost daughter.
. . .I guess when it's something like that, you really have to pick one or the other, huh?

I never saw panty throwing at the Bad Seeds show - but personally? something inside of me just wanted to crawl over peoples heads to get to him - it was such a great performance...
it was crowded enough that I could have tried but they don't let people do crazy shit like that in the 930 club anymore haha
I'm so looking forward to october

Throwing panties? Really? That's such a creepy practice, haha. I'm not going to pretend I've never developed a "thing" for the musicians I like (though it usually is exactly as I say it; I listen to them and convince myself they're attractive because I like the music or the way they sing or whatever), but seriously. . .I guess it's self respect. No matter how intensely I happen to fangirl (it's an action now!!) over strange old men (ha-ha), that would never cross my mind. I'd just watch with a big fuckin' idolizing grin plastered on my face and that's all. Any proposed meeting might consist of "YOU'RE NICK CAVE." You know, in case he forgot.
And for the record, I count it equally as creepy if it happened when he was 20 as 50.
I used to try and pretend I didn't develop creepy fixations on musicians, because I find such fixations sort of insulting to them as artists, but eh. Fuck it. It's the quality of the music that inspires such fervent adoration anyway, so what if it isn't graceful?

More girls I have seen throw panties at Nick Cave than I can believe on stage. You would think this kind of thing is just for people like Julio Iglesias or Ricky Martin but Nick Cave seems to have a lot of eager beavers in the audience. So to say.
I like him very much but maybe he coiuld let go of his obsession with Leonard Cohen one day in the future.
I was just writing to say that I am amazed by this Hillary Clinton. In the face of inevitable loss even financially she marches on bravely blindly and stupidly. You know in East Germany our politics was much simpler. She would have been shot by this point.

Nick Cave
Just seen Nick Cave in Glasgow on the 4th May on the UK leg of the new tour. All I can say it was an excellent show, playing virtually the full new album plus select songs from his back catalogue (approx 20 songs per night). Sound quality was superb, he should not be missed if you can help it. Highly recommended night out.

Yeah, I hope I get to go. I'm not too worried, because he's not horribly popular here (I guess I could name a few college types that like him, maybe I'm misled in thinking that) so I doubt tickets are exactly flying away. The thing is that I don't think I've ever run into a live Bad Seeds (or Birthday Party, for that matter) recording that I really enjoy, so I'm hoping it dawns on me when I'm actually there, experiencing it. (By contrast, I've heard live recordings for Antony and the Johnsons, Leonard Cohen and Swans that I like--so it's not that I just can't appreciate live recordings.)

If you haven't heard Mr Gira sing the classic Queen cover Under Pressure on their new album(Women as Lovers) I strongly encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

It's petty, but part of the reason (a small part, but a part) I'm pissed I didn't get the job is that Nick Cave is finally touring the US. I haven't really liked anything he's done musically since No More Shall We Part, but I've been an annoying fangirl for over six years now, so I kind of -have- to go. I was pretty confident that I'd get the job before that phone interview, and confident in turn that I'd get to go since I'd have paid vacation and plenty of money to blow, y'know, but. . .bah. Well, fuck it. I'll at least have a -shitty- job before October comes around. I don't have to give up, I guess.
I've actually never been to a show/concert of any kind. It just seemed like the small talk option of choice for a music message board, haha. I really do come to this place to type my most bullshit, inappropriate/out of place thoughts, and I have no idea why.

hmmm
that kind of thing is why I hate (and avoid) the corporate world. That and the fact that I don't get invited to the crazy office sex parties. No shows for me either. Part of it is the cost, but I kind of hate concert atmospheres, where every poser in town shows up. Plus you have to stand around for half an hour while they set up and watch these posers gab to one another. Since I like to do things alone and have nobody to talk to so I get bored shitless. I'd rather just listen to the album in my room. Though I think my excuses for not going to shows are ultimately poor and really it's just laziness.

I finally got through. The woman was a bitch who insinuated I called too late (I called immediately after getting the email AND YOU DIDN'T ANSWER OR CALL BACK, YOU SHIT), and more or less told me she's going to write that I'm bad for the job anyway. After all that time. Ugh. Fucking people. Shouldn't have even given me the interview, then. Like some magical flowers of experience are going to crop up in my voice that weren't there in the resumé?
They should've given me to someone WHO ACTUALLY WORKS IN THE FUCKING BUILDING. I should've known that woman was a rigid bitch the moment I heard her voice mail message.
Aaaanywho.
Been to any good shows lately?

Nah, they wouldn't have even offered the thing if they didn't plan on following through. I'm not the only person it's been like that for. Still annoying as shit, though.
